Saltlick Game Lodge has always been in my travel bucket list.I like how the rooms are hosted above the ground. So,in the month of January,2020 off we went to Taita where the lodges are located.I had underestimated the distance, from Nairobi the place is far!!!!In-fact its like you are travelling to Mombasa. It is far!!!However once you get to Taita, the lodge is not far from the main highway.

Once we got there,we were received well.I liked that the place was not crowded and their hospitality was great. The views are breathtaking..wow!The rooms are simple, clean & well kept, the food was good & tasty. They have a swimming pool in Taita hills but not at Saltlick.

We took an evening game drive to see if we will catch a glimpse of some wild animals and we were lucky to see elephants and some other animals(cant remember the names).Saltlick has a tunnel where one can see the animals in close range at their watering point. What a brilliant idea!!!

We were there for 2 nights and spent the one full day swimming and playing games. They have a nice lounge where one can relax and think about life(heheheh). They also have a small museum with details of the first world war, quite interesting for history lovers. On the last day we took a morning drive and we were lucky to see a cheetah and a lion!!! We then took a drive back to Nairobi.

This is a lovely place to visit, the roads are good all the way and there is an option of taking the SGR till Voi then connect by road.I like the fact that it is next to the main highway. The place is cool and the view breathtaking, lovely place for photo-shoots. For the game-drives and spotting of animals...its a matter of luck!!!
